Keith Bradley

Here is a note we received from Jan Bradley about Keith. Lets all keep him in our prayers, I think he has a long recovery in store.

When travelling back from the Desert last week, we received a phone call from the Misericordia Hospital here in Edmonton asking if Keith was interested in a cancellation MRI appointment for his back on Easter Sunday at 7:00 a.m.  You might guess he wasn’t thrilled about the time of day but we were so pleasantly surprised to receive this call about a month after we had requested our Doctor place a requisition for this test thinking it would definitely take weeks, maybe even months.

Away he went this morning and all went well.  Unfortunately, he fell on the ice in the parking lot on his return to the car and fell on his right side extremely hard.  Yes, many hours were spent in Emergency before he was taken for x-rays to diagnose a fractured right hip, fractured right elbow and a fractured right shoulder.  Needless to say, this is not good news.  Also not good was that we found out the hard way that visitors are not allowed in Emergency due to Covid so he had to sit in a wheelchair all those hours on his own.

Finally, at about 7:30 p.m., he was placed in a room and hip surgery is hoped for tomorrow morning.  We think it will be a total replacement as he smashed the ball joint to smithereens.  His elbow will require pins and plates.  They didn’t like what they saw in the shoulder x-ray so want to do another set of those.

Because we just returned from a “foreign” country, he needs to be in isolation (the good news).  The bad news is that I have to wear an N95 mask and a shield when visiting him.  I did that for an hour tonight and just about asphixiated myself – those things are made of tight rubber!

I don’t need to tell you he is not going to have a happy summer.

I will try to keep you up to date.  Hopefully he has his surgeries soon.  He has gone for more x-rays this morning so I haven’t talked to him or his nurse.
