Diane Porter celebrated her 70th birthday today here in Mesa. The day started off with Doug serving Little Kiss Cocktails (see the recipe below) to Diane’s aqua-fitness class at 8:15 this morning. This afternoon 70 people (including a special surprise guest — the Porter’s daughter Karen from Ardrossan) gathered to celebrate this milestone occasion in their backyard. The afternoon included bean bag toss, square dancing, pizza, chicken wings, birthday cake, and lots of friendship.

HOW TO MAKE THE LITTLE KISS COCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS:
- 10 oz Water
- 4 oz White vinegar
- 12 oz Sugar
- 8 to 12 Strawberries, hulled and halved
PREPARATION:
Add all the ingredients to a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature. Mash the strawberries with a muddler or fork. Strain, and refrigerate (preferably overnight) before using.
Congratulations Diane on your 70th which you shared with friends and family and finally, “Sealed with a Kiss”.
Belated birthday wishes to Diane from Cory and myself. It sounds like you had a great time to mark this milestone. Question for Doug; what is a muddler?
Hi Cory, a muddler is a bartender’s tool, used like a pestle to mash—or muddle—fruits, herbs, and/or spices in the bottom of a glass to release their flavor. You’ll have to visit us sometime and I’ll make you one of these!
Hi Jim:
Noticed your comment about Scott, what was his problem?
Don
In the last Bulletin, Scott told us about his trip to the Grey Nuns.
“Yours truly ended up at the Grey Nuns ER and spent about 44 hours there on a cot getting a GI bleed patched and then topped up with some of Alberta Blood Donors’ finest – hence the delay in getting this bulletin out. All’s well and the leak is fixed.”
