Milt Lanes

Friends:
Our friend, Milt Lanes, passed away last night. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy are with Milt’s two daughters at this very sad time. Milt was a great friend to many in our club and will be missed. Speaking personally, I will miss Milt at our meetings and functions but especially at curlarama. Cheerio my friend.
In today’s Edmonton Journal there was an obituary for Ted’s brother Dick who passed away on June 1st. To Ted, Judi and family we extend our deepest sympathy to you at this sad time.
Take care my friends,
Don

In Loving Memory

Milt Lanes, age 83, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025 in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

He was born in Canwood, Saskatchewan to Ingulf and Edith Lanes. Milt carried with him the friendly spirit of the prairies throughout his life. He began his career in banking, where he met the love of his life, Alice, while working in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Together, they built a life, eventually settling in Sherwood Park, where they planted deep roots and spent over 50 years raising their family and forming lasting friendships.

Milt had a long and successful career as both a financial manager and mortgage broker. He was known for his sound advice, sense of humour and generous spirit.

He is survived by his daughters Leanne (Tom) and Kendra (Bruce), and his much-loved grandchildren: Braeden, Ethan, Sydney, and Riley. He also leaves behind one brother Gerald (Muriel) and a sister Red (Terry), as well as numerous extended family members.

Milt was a passionate sports fan who loved both playing and watching the game—especially when it came to his beloved Edmonton Oilers. For decades, he escaped the Alberta winters by snowbirding in Palm Springs, where Milt enjoyed sunny days on the golf course with a cherished community of close friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Milt’s memory to the Cross Cancer Institute through the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
