Web Site – Well Done

We just received the news from District VIII Governor Alan Pentney that Sherwood Park Gyro won the international award for our web site. All the hard work, effort, and time put in by Doug Porter and Jim Copeland has been worth it (See Alan’s note below). Congratulation Sherwood Park Gyro and particulaily Jim Copeland and posthumously Doug Porter.
Hello Jim
I believe you are responsible for managing the Sherwood Park website to make it as professional in format as it is. I know there are many contributors that make this a great site to learn information about your club and Gyro in general. It is with great pleasure that I congratulate you and the Sherwood Park Club on being awarded the Gyro International Best Website Award for 2014-15.

I received this on your club’s behalf at the Annual General Meeting in Buffalo NY. I could mail it if you like or deliver it in August. I plan to be in Edmonton on August 28 (Friday) for business. I also may be in Edmonton earlier to meet with gyro clubs if it can be arranged.

Yours in Gyro Friendship
Alan Pentney
Governor District VIII

  1. Jim Copeland says:

    Alan, thank you so much for the good news. I am very proud of our website. Many people are responsible for our website being what it is;
    1. Our previous executive for taking the time to carefully define what they wanted in a new website,
    2. Doug Porter was the designer responsible for the way it looks and functions. Posthumous recognition must be given to him for the over 200 hours of effort he put in to making the site what it is,
    3. Our Past President Ray Davis has stepped forward and taken on the role of webmaster,
    4. I worked with Doug as the technical support, actually implementing what Doug designed and more recently as backup to Ray to help when things go wrong.

    It has truly been a team effort and everyone involved deserves recognition.

    I have no problem with getting together whenever you are in Edmonton. I would also like to talk to you about the District VIII website.

    Congratulations Jim. A worthy recognition for sure.
