Fellow Gyros and Ladies:
Below is the text of an email I received from Dunc Mills of the Edmonton Gyro Club early this afternoon regarding their Valentines Day Dinner on Wednesday, February 12th. I would encourage as many of our members and ladies to attend this function organized by the Edmonton Gyro and Gyrette clubs. They are putting a lot of effort in organizing this function and to me the menu is making my mouth water. To our members wanting to attend this special function, please follow the instructions: PAYMENT IN ADVANCE as follows by e-transfer: or by cheque to the Edmonton Gyro Club.
Additionally, please confirm your attendance to Dunc Mills by the deadline of Thursday, February 6th by 5:00 PM. Dunc’s email address is:
Yours in Gyro Friendship
Don
Good morning, my fellow Gyros. As I mentioned to both Presidents George and Don the last couple of days, and to Gyrette President Cathy last week, I wanted to send out information to the Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Edmonton Gyrette clubs about our upcoming joint Valentine’s Day dinner on Wednesday, February 12th. I have cc’d our clubs’ Treasurers and Bulletin Editors as well.
What is happening?
A lovely evening of Gyro friendship and camaraderie with both the Edmonton and Sherwood Park Gyro clubs, including wives, partners, as well as single Gyros and Gyrettes. Everyone is invited! We had a similar event last year with attendees from both clubs, and it went over very well. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to meet new friends from the other club. Think of the Valentine’s Day dinner as a ‘mini-Gyro convention’ without the meetings! The banquet room will be decorated in a Valentine’s Day theme, and the Gyrette club is already hard at work preparing some fabulous centerpieces. We encourage everyone to wear some sort of red clothing item to help get everyone in the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
When?
Wednesday, February 12th.
Cocktails from 5:30 – 6:30
Dinner at 6:30 with fun stuff to follow the meal.
Where?
The Woodvale Community League Facility at Mill Woods Golf Course.
What’s On The Menu?
We have worked with the Food and Beverage staff at Woodvale to come up with the following menu:
Caesar Salad, Spinach Salad, Mesuin Salad, Green Salad, Creamy Dill Pasta Salad, Marinated Mushroom Salad
Raw Vegetable Tray with Dip, Assorted Pickles, Dinner Buns and Butter
Prime Rib Roast – hand carved at the Prime Rib station.
Yorkshire Pudding
Salmon Coulibiac (Think ‘Salmon Wellington’)
Wild Rice and Roasted Potatoes
Cabbage Rolls – Perogies
Honey Glazed Carrots
Assorted Tortes, Cheesecake, Fresh Fruit, Cheeses, Coffee and Tea
What a great buffet!!!!
We will also have a cash bar available for those guests who wish to enjoy a cocktail and/or wine with dinner.
Costs and Payment
All-in cost for the evening is $55 per person, which includes the fabulous buffet, all gratuities and taxes, as well as prizes for the ‘fun stuff’ after dinner. Because of the nature of the event and that we have to confirm our numbers to the Woodvale Facility, we strongly encourage all attendees please pay in advance, either by cheque to the Edmonton Gyro Club, or preferably by e-transfer to our Treasurer at . Our Treasurers wish to enjoy the evening without having to handle money at the door if at all possible. No password is required.
Deadline
Please confirm your attendance to Dunc Mills of the Edmonton Gyro Club at: , separately from your payment to our Treasurer. I will tabulate the numbers and confirm to the Woodvale Facility. Deadline for tickets will be Thursday, February 6th at 5:00 p.m.
This event is a terrific opportunity for us to invite guests, especially those gentlemen who have recently attended one of our regular meetings to give them the opportunity to bring their spouse along so that both of them can experience more of the fun and camaraderie of Gyro in a mixed function setting.
